Rob says: Although the name sounds like something out of science fiction, LUNAR STATION is actually the washing station where these beans were processed. But where does the name come from? It was inspired by a Greek merchant, Diogenes, who traveled to East Africa and claimed to have discovered the source of the Nile — a place the locals called the Mountains of the Moon, named for their snow-capped peaks.
The highest summit of this range, straddling Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, rises to 5,109 meters above sea level. The coffee, however, is grown around 2,000 masl — still one of the highest coffee-growing regions on this side of Africa. This is the very first time we’ve been able to source coffee from this unique origin.
